Mattias Gutman - United States Navy

When Carl Felton returned to the United States after his honorable discharge from the Navy in May 1946, he brought with him a mastery of Morse code, some conversational French and a propensity to smile at everyone he met.
A Massachusetts native who lived most of his life in Frederick County, Felton was just 18 years and four months old when America and its allies invaded Nazi-occupied France in a series of landing operations that came to be known as D-Day.

Charles Edward Solano - United States Navy
February 4, 1952 - March 13, 2024

My dear friend Charlie Solano. We served together on the USS Newport News CA-148 back in 1973 after being together at Great Lakes for boot camp in 1972. He has been a dear friend for all these years. Life is so precious and this really hits home. You are at rest my dear friend and you are now surrounded by many shipmates in heaven. Sorry we never got back together one last time on this earth, but I’ll see you someday soon.
